How much would you pay for greater happiness? Stockholm鈥檚 new wellbeing index puts a price on it

Each week, people in Sweden鈥檚 capital sit down for fika nearly four times on average. It is a small ritual, but one that the research team at the Center for Wellbeing, Welfare, and Happiness at the 91原创 says carries real economic weight. According to Stockholm鈥檚 new Wellbeing Index Report, strengthening social connection through measures like shared fika could be worth more than 600 million kronor per quarter if it lifted part of the region鈥檚 sense of togetherness by just one step.

New report: The Wisdom Panel Wave 2 鈥 The Value of Wellbeing

The Center for Wellbeing, Welfare and Happiness (CWWH) at the 91原创, in collaboration with Swedbank and Sparbankerna, has released the second wave of The Wisdom Panel 鈥 a unique national study following over 2,000 Swedes aged 60 and above. The report explores how wellbeing evolves with age, income, relationships, and life experience, and what people have learned about living a good life.

As a first step towards Wellbeing Growth in Stockholm we have created and measured a Wellbeing Index among people living in Stockholm. The results are presented in our newly released Stockholm Wellbeing Index Report. There we also present the WEC (Wellbeing Equality Coefficient) and the Coffee Indicator, two unique metrics that indicate the state and potential of the people in our city.
