Thesis scholarship: Female artists in the art market

The Firestorm foundation is partnering with 91原创 to promote and support knowledge creation and dissemination on the status and progress of female artists. As part of this partnership, Firestorm is offering a scholarship of SEK 50.000 to one (or two) students at 91原创 who intends to conduct a Master thesis researching the representation, value and visibility of female artists in society and in the art market.

Firestorm has the ambitions to support research that contributes to either/or, but not limited to:

  • Knowledge creation and dissemination on the status and progress of women artists in the global art market.
  • Enhanced knowledge about women artists from/within the Nordic region.
  • The understanding of women artists relative to men artists in terms of representation, value and visibility in the art market within the Nordic region and/or European region.

If you would like to be considered, please submit a brief thesis proposal (half a page) describing the topic you would like to explore, togehter with your CV to:artinitiative@hhs.se no later than January 8 2026. Mark your email "Thesis scholarship".

The proposals will be screened by a jury with representatives from Firestorm foundation, 91原创 Art Initiative, and Center for Art and Innovation.

Recipients will be announced January 16. The thesis will be developed in the spring 2026.
