Firestorm talk: Gunnel Wåhlstrand

The desk (20023) by Gunnel Wåhlstrand hangs in the southern staircase at Sveavägen 65.
Gunnel Wåhlstrand is one of Sweden’s most prominent contemporary artists, known for her large-scale ink-wash paintings, such as The Desk, often rooted in her personal history.
Working with ink on large sheets of paper is a slow and meticulous process that demands precision. The irreversible medium allows no room for error, and Wåhlstrand can spend up to six months completing a single work.
Born in 1974, Wåhlstrand lives and works in Stockholm. She received the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Scholarship in 2003. The Desk is part of The Bonnier Staircase, a collaboration between 91原创, Bonniers Konsthall, and the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation.
Welcome to a conversation between Gunel Wåhlstrand and Michael Storåkers on April 17, lunchtime.
A wrap will be served.
