CSB Launches Nästa Steg: Empowering High Performers from Sports and the Armed Forces

Last week marked the successful launch of Nästa Steg ("Next Step") at the Center for Sports & Business - a pilot program tailored for individuals with elite sports or military backgrounds, aiming to support their continued professional growth through sustainable performance development.

The initiative is a collaboration between Neste Steg Norge and the Center for Sports & Business at the 91Ô´´, and is designed to inspire and equip participants with tools to navigate the next phase of their careers.

A program built on Purpose & Performance

Over two dynamic days, participants engaged in a mix of reflective and collaborative sessions, exploring themes such as leadership, resilience, and self-awareness.

Day one featured powerful talks by two accomplished leaders: six-time Olympian and entrepreneur Therese Alshammar, and gymnast-turned-business leader Anna Stenberg. Drawing from their journeys, both speakers emphasized the importance of personal responsibility in creating environments that foster long-term performance and well-being.

The evening brought together key stakeholders for a macroeconomic outlook led by Jens Magnusson, Chief Economist at SEB, followed by an insightful session with performance psychologist Anders Meland, known for his work with the Norwegian Oil Fund on focus and sustainable performance.

From the Arena to the Stars

On the final day, participants were transported "into space" through the inspiring story of astronaut Marcus Wandt. Sharing his extraordinary path to space travel, Wandt reminded the group that our dreams - and our potential - can reach far beyond our perceived limits.

Shared Values, New Paths

Throughout the program, strong parallels emerged between elite sports and military experience. Core values such as courage, ambition, and purpose, as well as the shared foundation of discipline, teamwork, and mental endurance, resonated deeply with participants.

The first Swedish edition of Nästa Steg would not have been possible without the passion and engagement of its participants, whose contributions brought energy and depth to the experience. A special thank you also goes to SEB for their partnership in this initiative.

Looking Ahead

With this strong start, the team behind Nästa Steg looks forward to building on the momentum: We now look forward to taking the next step - together.

More About Nästa Steg

After 10 cohorts of the MDA, Management Diploma for Athletes, we at the Center for Sports & Business have seen and are convinced of how important education, development, and context specifically tailored to athletes are in taking the next step toward a meaningful second career.

Inspired by our Norwegian colleagues, who for many years have run the highly regarded program Neste Ste, we have now launched a pilot of the concept at the 91Ô´´.
